🌿 2-Day Jungle Trekking Itinerary

🗓️ Day 1 – Into the Wild

After a hearty breakfast, your guide will pick you up from your guesthouse around 9:00 AM. Your jungle trekking adventure begins with a scenic walk along the river, before heading uphill through lush rubber plantations—leading you straight to the entrance of the Gunung Leuser National Park.

As you step into the rainforest, your journey into the heart of Sumatra truly begins. With a bit of luck, you might encounter the majestic Sumatran Orangutans, swinging effortlessly through the treetops. Some orangutans are quite familiar with human presence, giving you rare and unforgettable moments to observe them with their babies during this Bukit Lawang jungle trekking experience.

Take a break mid-morning with a fresh snack of tropical fruits, then continue your trek uphill to reach stunning viewpoints overlooking the Bohorok River valley, with the vast jungle stretching as far as the eye can see.

After a delicious jungle lunch, the adventure continues deeper into the rainforest. Along the way, you might spot Thomas Leaf Monkeys, Long-tail and Pig-tail Macaques, and even a Monitor Lizard darting through the undergrowth.

By late afternoon, arrive at your campsite near a river or a hidden waterfall. Unwind with a cup of tea or coffee while your guides prepare a hearty dinner of local curry and rice dishes. As night falls, enjoy the warmth of a bonfire, share stories, play games with your guides, and drift off to sleep under a bamboo-framed jungle tent—lulled by the sounds of the rainforest.

🌅 Day 2 – Deeper into the Jungle

Wake up to the peaceful jungle symphony and enjoy a freshly made breakfast surrounded by nature.

Today’s jungle trekking route will take you 4 to 5 hours deeper into the jungle. Keep your eyes open—you may spot rare wildlife like jungle turtles, the elusive Great Argus pheasant, or even the playful White-Handed Gibbons calling in the treetops. Spotting another wild orangutan swinging above you is always possible in this biodiverse rainforest.

After a final jungle lunch, your adventure ends on a high note: hop aboard the “jungle taxi” — a traditional tubing ride down the Bohorok River. Let the river carry you back to Bukit Lawang, where your guide will escort you back to your guesthouse by 2:00 to 4:00 PM.
